Hatteras Announces Top Dealerships and Salesmen
NEW BERN, N.C., Nov. 12, 2007 – Hatteras Yachts announced its 2007 Dealer Sales Awards at a ceremony held on Oct. 26, in conjunction with the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
The night's big winner was Malcolm Verey and his Hatteras Yacht Sales International of Southampton, U.K., an authorized dealer for portions of Europe and the Middle East. A Hatteras dealer for more than 30 years, Verey received the prestigious Dealer Performance Award, a recognition given to the dealership that best meets or exceeds the goals set annually by Hatteras as well as demonstrates the ability to increase market share in the dealership's region. Verey also swept both of the top Hatteras individual honors -- the Top Gun Award, which goes to the salesman that captures the most market share from competing builders, as well as the company's most coveted award, Salesman of the Year, in recognition of his outstanding sales success during the 2007 model year.
“Malcolm Verey has been a very vocal and very successful Hatteras representative in Europe for three decades,” said Jan Boone, Hatteras vice president of sales. “In 2007, he eclipsed all of his previous triumphs by leading Hatteras into growing and emerging markets in the Middle East. It gives us great pleasure to see his guidance, leadership and perseverance rewarded this year.”
As a fitting gesture during the event, Verey was also presented with the Hatteras Passion & Pride award. This award -- presented in honor of Tony Pasca, who since 2001 had served as president of MarineMax before passing away in 2007 -- is given to an individual who displays true passion for Hatteras and for success within the business.
Verey didn't win all of the awards, however. MarineMax, an authorized Hatteras dealer for Texas and Florida (excluding the Gulf Coast), again won the prestigious Sales Leadership Award for generating the most sales revenue during the 2007 model year. MarineMax also was awarded with the Customer Service Award for delivering the highest scores from Hatteras customers after taking delivery of their yachts.
“I cannot remember a year when the team at MarineMax didn't come through with the sales required to win our Sales Leadership Award,” Boone said. “Year after year, they ship more product than any Hatteras dealer, and to combine that sales success with an achievement for excellent customer service speaks volumes about the dedication this team has to our product and to our customers.”
In addition to these two winners, two other dealerships were honored during the awards presentation. Yachtcenter S.A., an authorized Hatteras dealer in Venezuela, was honored for its 25 years of Hatteras representation. Boston Yacht Sales, headquartered in Massachusetts, received an award commemorating its 35 years of service to Hatteras.
Hatteras also recognized individual dealerships for their sales achievement with Gold, Silver and Bronze awards. The Gold award was presented to Boston Yacht Sales, North Weymouth, Mass.; Hatteras Yacht Sales International, Southampton, U.K.; Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales, Beaufort, N.C.; MarineMax Motor Yachts, Clearwater, Fla.; SNO Yachts SPA, Olbia, Italy; and Yachtcenter S.A., Caracas, Venezuela. Silver level honorees included Antilles Yacht Sales, San Juan, P.R.; Garden State Yacht Sales, Point Pleasant, N.J.; Gulf Coast Hatteras, Orange Beach, Ala.; and Walstrom Marine, Harbor Springs, Mich. Receiving a Bronze award were Pancarib Marine Inc., Colon, Panama; Stan Miller Yacht Sales, Long Beach, Calif.; and YachtGroup S.A. de C.V., Delegacion, Mexico.
Finally, Hatteras presented Distinguished Sales Achievement plaques to its top salesmen. In addition to Verey, the list included: Agie Vicente from Antilles Yacht Sales; Scott Lucas from Boston Yacht Sales; Bob Hoste from Garden State Yacht Sales; Clark Sneed from Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales; Rafael Torrealba from Yachtcenter S.A.; and Chris Cunningham, Frank DeVarona, Tom George, Steve Kleemann and Walter Sea of MarineMax Motor Yachts.
