Mercury Announces 2007-08 Product Knowledge Training Schedule
FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Mercury Marine makes being “#1 on the Water” look easy. Earning that cachet, though, required years of uncompromised dedication to quality and performance. In a continued endeavor to share this expertise with its extensive network of U.S. dealers, Mercury Marine today announced the 2007-08 return of its popular Product Knowledge Training Camps.
Mercury Marine will host training camps at 57 locations in 33 states to provide its entire dealer network with an in-depth look at not only features and benefits, but also the true advantages of Mercury products and services in preparation for the upcoming boat show season. Training camps begin Dec. 6, 2007, and continue through Feb. 12, 2008.
Launched in 2004, the training camps focus on key selling features and benefits of Mercury Marine products – including the full line of Mercury outboards, as well as MerCruiser sterndrives, engines and inboards. The camps also feature training on Mercury Propellers, Mercury Inflatable Boats, MotorGuide trolling motors, Digital Throttle and Shift, and SmartCraft.
Participation in each one-day Product Knowledge Training Camp is free to all authorized Mercury dealership and boat manufacturer personnel. Upon completion of the camp, each trainee is provided a certificate, product handbook, training camp workbook, and interactive DVD, among other supporting materials. Additionally, each attendee is eligible to enter to win a four-day, all-expenses-paid trip to the Crocodile Bay Lodge in Costa Rica.
Joe Antonneau, Mercury director of dealer integration, said the said the camps offer interactive training designed to enhance the knowledge of the organization's dealer sales force. He said the camps are timed with the upcoming boat show season in mind.
“Each Product Knowledge Training Camp will review current Mercury products while getting dealers up to speed on our newest products,” said Antonneau. “Ultimately, when the boat shows in each market begin, our dealer sales people will be prepared and ready to tell and sell their knowledge of Mercury products.”
David Grigsby, Mercury training manager, is a new addition to Mercury's product training team and will conduct a number of the Product Training Camps. He said the training provides unique insight gained only from Mercury professionals.
“This isn't an outside team that we bring in to train,” Grigsby said. “These camps are facilitated by Mercury's own sales force; experts who have developed an intimate knowledge of Mercury products within their respective sales territories.”
Seating at the Product Knowledge Training Camps is limited, so interested parties are urged to register as soon as possible. Registration is available via MercNET (https://mercnet.mercurymarine.com), or by contacting Mercury Sales at 1-800-962-0927.
