Second Annual Brunswick Summer Classic Dates Announced; New Senior Format Added
MUSKEGON, Mich., April 22, 2008 – The second annual Brunswick Summer Classic Tournament has been scheduled for August 8 – 10, 2008, and organizers are anticipating another successful tournament.
The tournament will once again be held at Brunswick Zone Carolier in North Brunswick, N.J., also the site for the U.S. Open, one of four majors on the Denny's Professional Bowling Association (PBA) Tour for the next two seasons.
Tommy Semiz, who owns and operates Tommy Semiz Pro Shop inside Brunswick Zone Carolier, will serve as the tournament director for the Brunswick Summer Classic. Semiz also successfully operates other tournaments under the "World Match Games.” Semiz will be assisted by Buddy Goodman, who operates the Northeast Senior Challenge, a senior bowling tournament series.
The guaranteed main event prize funds for first through fourth place are $10,000, $5,000, $2,500 and $2,500 respectively. This year, three divisions will be offered: ages 49 and under; 50 and over seniors'; and a ladies' division.
Brunswick will offer its latest Fury pro-performance ball to all bowlers who pay to enter the main event.
In addition to sponsoring the tournament, Brunswick will provide support staff for ball drilling as well as technical support. The lanes will be maintained with the Brunswick Authority22® lane maintenance system.
Last year, 153 bowlers signed up for the main event qualifying while 39 bowlers made it to the finals. Dan MacLelland of Saginaw, Mich., took home the first place grand prize of $10,000.
